Going Out In Wrexham - North Wales Foodies

Here we are again to share more of our favourite North Wales foodies favourites. It’s great to be able to share our recommendations with you guys, and support these local, independent businesses. It’s fantastic to see so many local people appreciating the many thriving establishments Wrexham and its surrounding areas have to offer. This month we’ve visited the Fat Boar in Wrexham Town Centre, the Cock o’Barton near Malpas and Aballu in Rossett.

The Fat Boar, Wrexham

What finer thing in life is there than a Sunday roast, especially when you don’t have to make it yourself? We’d recommend The Fat Boar any day of the week, but taking advantage of their great value Sunday roast is sure to please with its generous helpings of meat, veg and majorly impressive Yorkshire puds.

Aballu Artisan Chocolatier

Chocaholics listen up! We’ve known about Aballu for a while, but now we feel it’s time to share this little secret with you. From their small workshop, Jo and the team create mouth-watering uniquely flavoured chocolate truffles and bars for any special occasion (or any day as the case may be). We went along to The Cocoa Rooms for a lock-in to sample some new creations, such as their mango and vanilla truffles, and ended up taking even more home. The next lock-in is coming up soon so be sure to follow Aballu on Facebook to keep up with their latest offerings.

Cock o’Barton

We love the Cock o’Barton, which might have a Cheshire postcode, but at just a short drive from town, we consider it a Wrexham restaurant. We’ve eaten here many times and their seasonal menus and friendly atmosphere keep us coming back for more. We visited this time to take advantage of the awesome beer and burger offer (Tuesdays from 5pm) it was impressive. Who could say no to a homemade steak burger topped with melted cheese and smoky candied bacon, washed down with a local ale? Book a table because even on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant and bar areas were packed out.
