Bootlegger has teamed up with 73 Degree Films to promote Wrexham pubs reopening.

To celebrate the reopening of indoor hospitality in Wales this week, 73 Degree Films are releasing “Bootlegger’s Guide to Wrexham Pubs“.

Bootlegger (world-renowned Wrexham FC fan Karl Philips) and Rob Corcoran from 73 Degree Films took part in a virtual pub crawl using a giant green screen to appear in pubs all across Wrexham.

The 11-minute video on the 73 Degree Films Youtube Channel contains comedy sketches, challenges and quizzes everywhere from The Turf to The Parish.

A Wrexham Legend

Rob takes up the story: “We wanted to make something to get everyone excited about supporting their local pub. It’s a celebration of these amazing places, and we couldn’t think of anyone better to do that with than Bootlegger. He’s a Wrexham legend”.

The idea came about after Karl and Rob met while filming for S4C at Christmas time in Gwersyllt. 73 Degree Films had been making monthly videos for YouTube and wanted to work with pubs in the area for a special project to promote the town centre in time for when things began to open up again.

Rob and Karl’s conversation took place in Wrexham town centre in early May. They received support from The Foundry and local media professionals, including Owen Jones, Gareth Roberts, Charlie Williams and Scott Fitzgerald. Filming inside the pubs happened just after.

Chris Evans, Chair of Saith Seren, said: “It’s great to be watching Wrexham FC at Saith with a full pub of friends rather than at home in front of the laptop!”.

Indoor Hospitality Reopening

Indoor hospitality in Wales has been allowed to reopen. Up to six people from six households can now eat or drink together.

Richard Lever of Magic Dragon Brewery Tap said: “It’s great to see people back in the Tap. Thanks to all the customers that brought beer for home delivery over the two months. Your support is really appreciated.”

The Royal Oak on High Street said: “We would love to say thank you to the Joules Brewery. They have fantastic pubs and amazing real ales and have provided us with incredible support at the Wrexham tap house.”

73 Degree Films

73 Degree Films are now preparing for a series of projects taking place over the summer. There will be, amongst other things, more ambitious videos involving the town centre. You can keep up to date with everything here: Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter.

You can also follow Bootlegger over on Twitter. Don’t forget: get your Bootlegger Pilsner and merchandise from the new Wrexham Lager shop.
