Have some fun and make new friends!    \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNew members always welcome! Please wear comfortable clothing and trainers and bring a bottle of water with you. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEmail: sheilageorge2@hotmail.com to join. \n\n\n\nNetball Overview and History\n\n\n\nNetball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players\, usually on an indoor court. It is predominantly for women\, being one of a rare number of sports created exclusively for the female sex. Originating in England in the late 19th century\, the sport is most predominant in Commonwealth nations. The sport also uses outdoor netball courts. \n\n\n\nAccording to World Netball\, the sport’s international governing body\, more than 20 million people in more than 80 countries participate in the sport. Netball has been a part of the Olympics because the IOC Charter in part requires the sport have more men’s teams than women’s. \n\n\n\nGames take place on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players have specific positions\, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court. \n\n\n\nA player can hold on to the ball for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. \n\n\n\nClick here for more events.
