Wrexham Community Choir Meetings
January 24 @ 7:30 PM
Wrexham Community Choir Meetings are open to new members if you wish to join a choir in 2023.
If you enjoy singing, why not give Wrexham Community Choir a try?
The choir meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm at Tŷ Pawb and is open to new members. There are no auditions, no need to read music or any solos. Allcomers, new and old, are welcome!
Carol Donaldson, Musical Director of Wrexham Community Choir, says, “Most people feel that they can’t sing, but singing in a group is different. There’s no pressure, no-one sings on their own and shyness soon disappears as everyone’s voices merge into a beautiful group sound. Research has also proved singing is good for your health as it boosts endorphins and serotonin levels and is an aerobic exercise!”
The choir will work on a collaborative musical project with the talented local duo Igloo Hearts this term.
The choir will also present a singing workshop and concert at Tŷ Pawb on Tuesday, 31st January featuring the acclaimed Windborne Singers from Vermont, USA. Described as “the most exciting vocal group in a generation” – this is a rare opportunity to sing with and listen to these stunning singers.
£12 for the workshop (7pm) or concert (8.15pm). £20 for both.
Windborne, the acclaimed Harmony Singers from USA: “A profound vocal experience”
They will be performing songs from their fourth album Of Hard Times And Harmony.
Described as “The most exciting vocal group in a generation”, Windborne’s captivating show draws on the singers’ deep roots in vocal harmony traditions. The uniqueness of their artistic approach brings old songs into the present. Known for the innovation of their arrangements, their harmonies are bold and anything but predictable.
With a 20-year background studying music around the world, Lauren Breunig, Jeremy Carter-Gordon, Lynn Rowan, and Will Rowan share a vibrant energy onstage with a blending of voices that can only come from decades of friendship alongside dedicated practice. The ensemble shifts effortlessly between different styles of music, drawing their audience along on a journey that spans continents and centuries, illuminating and expanding on the profound power and variation of the human voice.
The singers educate as they entertain, sharing stories about their songs and explaining the context and characteristics of the styles in which they sing.
BBC Travelling Folk describes Windborne as “subverting expectations and redefining the genre [of vocal music]… just absolutely phenomenal!”
Audiences and critics lavish praise upon the singers for their technical mastery and for their passion, engagement, and connection with each other and the audience.
Windborne spent the pandemic developing and recording Of Hard Times And Harmony and before the concert at Tŷ Pawb, they will also present a singing workshop, open to everyone from beginners to more experienced singers.
Workshop – 7- 8:30pm; price: £12.
Concert – 8. 30-10pm; price: £12.
