Let’s Do Dinner

It’s official: top chef and TV personality Ainsley Harriot is backing Hope House children’s hospice in their latest tasty activity. In a video released recently, he urges you to join in the fun and host a dinner party for your friends this September and raise vital funds to support seriously ill local children and their families.

Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices are even offering a free fundraising pack. This includes invitations, place name cards, recipe suggestions from familiar faces, a free limited-edition bottle opener and even games and sweepstake kit to add to the fun.

Fundraiser Vanessa Marubbi said: “We just love Ainsley! His positive attitude and kind support are infectious. We can’t thank him enough for joining us. It really is so easy. Just host a dinner party or a BBQ at your home or other venue and ask your friends to donate or participate in other fun activities such as a raffle or quiz.

“We’ll be right behind all our diners to help them make their event a great success and raise those vital funds to support local children and families.”

Johns’ Boys

There was music in the air at Hope House children’s hospice when celebrity choir Johns’ Boys took time out from their national tour to deliver a fun workshop filled with songs and games.

Members of the famous North Wales choir, best known as 2023 Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists, ran a musical session for brothers and sisters of children who visit Hope House hospice. The day was one of the hospice’s regular sibling support activities.

Johns’ Boys founder and conductor Aled Phillips was joined by choir members Shea, Cai, David, Tom, Ioan, Dafydd and Dan, who led the children in musical activities.

A Fun and Interactive Day

Aled is an award-winning conductor and former Director of Music at Oswestry School. He founded the choir, based near Wrexham, in 2016. Johns’ Boys initially came together to celebrate the life and work of two composers and conductors from the village of Rhosllanerchrugog: John Tudor Davies and John Glyn Williams. Following the success of that special occasion, the choir decided to continue making music together.

Aled said: “For the lads, it was a very rewarding time to give something back to such a wonderful charity that does so much for children and families. They were even allowed to tour the hospice and see the area’s fantastic facilities provided for families. This is a very special place.”

Children Jasmine and Ella, who both have sisters who attend Hope House for respite, said they loved the day.

“I’ve really enjoyed taking part in the songs and games. The activity days at Hope House with other brothers and sisters are good fun,” said Jasmine.

Fundraiser Cat Dowdeswell said: “We are so grateful to Johns’ Boys Choir for visiting Hope House. They created such a fun and interactive day for the brothers and sisters of the children who use our facilities. Sibling support is one of the vital services we provide to care for families in the area.

“We look forward to working with this wonderful choir again soon.”
