Pentre Broughton-based Healthcare Matters sprang into action last month to support The Joshua Tree, a Northwich charity dedicated to helping children and families affected by childhood cancers.

Urgent Need

After spotting a social media post about an urgent need for an accessibility ramp, the team carried out a site survey on the same day, completed the drawings by Tuesday, and installed the ramp by Thursday evening, working late into the night to ensure everything was ready for Friday’s reveal. Rapid Ramp generously donated the ramp, and Healthcare Matters provided all labour free of charge. The project formed part of the DIY SOS: Children in Need initiative. This project sees volunteers from across the country come together to extend the building and create new facilities for families.

The reveal day was incredibly moving. Families visiting the centre for the first time since the transformation experienced the new facilities and accessibility improvements. Healthcare Matters’ engineers were particularly touched to see children benefiting directly from their work. The collaboration highlighted the impact of rapid, community-focused action. It also recognised the importance of making The Joshua Tree a fully accessible space for children and families.

“Above And Beyond”

Jack Cusack, Head of Sales at Healthcare Matters, said, “It was inspiring to see the team go above and beyond to support such an important project. They worked late into the night to ensure the ramp was ready for Friday’s reveal. I couldn’t be prouder of their dedication. Knowing that children and families can now fully access The Joshua Tree thanks to our work was incredibly rewarding.”

The project’s incredible timeline was as follows:

Monday, 8th September: Spotted the social media post and immediately went to carry out the site survey.
Tuesday, 9th September: Completed drawings.
Thursday, 11th September: Ramp materials arrived in the morning. They fitted the ramp last that night.
Friday, 12th September: The big reveal.

The Children in Need special will be broadcast as part of its appeal week in the third week of November.
