Cefn Mawr litter pickers, Coleg Cambria and Ysgol Rhiwabon have all shared news stories from October with us.
Cefn Community Council Litter Pickers Recognised
British actor Stephen Walters – known for his roles in Mean Machine, Layer Cake and Hannibal Rising – has recognised the hard work of the #StayOnSide Cefn Litter Picker volunteers. Walters watched footage of the group’s clean-up missions and was full of admiration: “Litter bugs infuriate me! The
likes of Jacqueline Palmer and Hoopy are unsung community heroes. I’m mega impressed with the amount of work they do to keep Cefn and its district clean voluntarily,” said Stephen.
Coleg Cambria
CC proudly hosted this year’s Healthcare Heroes event in partnership with Wrexham University. The event inspired hundreds of future professionals to pursue careers that will shape the sector. The event took place in the state-of-the-art £14 million Nant building at Yale in Wrexham. Attendees enjoyed industry-standard simulated hospital wards and virtual reality environments. These features allowed students to experience real-world medical scenarios in a safe, innovative setting.

Ysgol Rhiwabon
Following a very successful period settling new students into Ysgol Rhiwabon, the school opened its doors to everyone as part of their community open evening. The school has much to celebrate as they begin the new academic year. This included the opportunity to celebrate the school’s 450th birthday.

This made this year’s open evening even more special. Year 7 students who have all been involved in the SWAN project spoke to a packed main hall about their transition from primary to secondary school.
