Young Carers Time to Shine
Young Carers from Wrexham have been co-designing a Celebration event with Done Together CIC, a newly formed social enterprise helping businesses achieve their goals and the local team of staff from Credu supporting young and adult carers.
“Incredible Contributions”
Sally Duckers, Credu WCD Team Leader, said, “We are celebrating the incredible contributions of Young Carers and Young Carer Allies from Wrexham. Nominations are due to close soon, and it is exciting to see the energy contributors are creating. We have the chance to recognise the exceptional, the kind, the everyday thoughtfulness and the above-and-beyond impact of individual young carers and allies from our community who support young carers in their jobs, as citizens and as family members.”

The event is taking place at Brymbo Sports Club this month. The theme for the event is Stars, an uplifting theme for a dark and cold period of the year. The project will also give those Young Carers who are learning a musical instrument with Wrexham Sounds a stage to perform on. They will also have an opportunity for a Young Carers choir to come together and sing.
“Brilliant Ideas”
Young Carers are also working with Artist Jamila Thomas from Arts Connection to create star-themed designs and share inspirational quotes to dress the hall in positivity.
“The young carers come up with brilliant ideas and are so grateful for the support friends, family and other professionals have shown them”, said Leanne Jeffreys, Credu Outreach Worker. “I am really looking forward to the evening and giving some of these amazing young people a chance to shine”.
This project has received £16,398.98 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, supported by Cadwyn Clwyd, AVOW and Wrexham County Council. #UKSPF.

Developing Teaching Through PLUS ONE
Over the past four Professional Development sessions, the teaching staff have had the fantastic opportunity to work with coach Mark Burns, focusing on teaching and learning strategies and enhancing classroom practice through the PLUS ONE approach.
Mark has collaborated with Ysgol Rhiawbon before, so it was a real pleasure for them to welcome him back. They were able to continue building on the great work they have done together. Mark Burns is an award-winning author, speaker and professional learning designer/facilitator with schools. He is also the co-author of four books and the LPI Gold Award 2021.

Over the last 17 years, Mark has developed a proven track record in improving teaching and leadership in education. He’s co-authored two best-selling books in this field. More recently, he has worked with FTSE100 retailers and third-sector organisations to develop the quality and impact of their learning and development programmes. Through his work, he has developed a deep understanding of learning design. He has also learnt how to overcome the barriers to learning in organisations.
Mrs Ferron-Evans, Headteacher, said, “We are delighted to be able to work with Mark during this academic year. We will integrate his learning into our Continuous Professional Development training programme for staff at the school. This is a tremendous opportunity for everyone here to develop their teaching and learning skills further.”
