Stori Brymbo has the green light to transform the historic Steelworks site into a world-class visitor attraction, learning and discovery centre, and a standout venue for North Wales and the UK.
Stori Brymbo is all about celebrating our past, present and future. From fossils to coal, iron to steel, and closure to an inspiring rebirth, We’re bringing the Stori of nature, industry, and people to life with immersive visitor-focused experiences and engaging storytelling.
Our fossil forest team have been busy digging foundation pits, carefully removing and preserving fossils before the main contractor work begins. When you read this, contractors will have erected a new building over the Fossil Forest area. This will be more than just a protective cover; it will be a live fossil excavation, complete with an information and viewing deck where visitors worldwide can witness uncovered history.
We’re also transforming the former Iron and Steel Works buildings, creating spaces for education, collaboration, and community activities. When they open their doors in 2026, you can expect a fully fitted café and visitor centre, events including live music, arts, and education, and interactive exhibits that tell the rich industrial history of the site. Of course, our amazing volunteer guides will also be on hand to offer in-depth knowledge and tours.
