Remember, remember the fifth of November! Bonfire Night in Wrexham is nearly here, and there are some brilliant organised displays across the county over the next week or so. From Holt to Llay and Marchwiel, here’s where to watch the skies light up.
Hotel Wrexham Bonfire Night in Holt
First up is the annual Bonfire Night celebration at Hotel Wrexham, on Wrexham Road in Holt. It takes place on Thursday 5 November, so you can celebrate on Bonfire Night itself. Gates open at 5pm, the bonfire roars into life at 6.30pm and the fireworks begin at 7.30pm.
The hotel promises an evening of fireworks, bonfire fun and family entertainment. There will also be plenty of hot food to keep everyone warm. In previous years, the event has also featured fairground rides, face painting and an outdoor bar.
Tickets are available through the Hotel Wrexham website, and the event has sold out before. Last year, there was no parking on site, with a park and ride shuttle from Net World Sports on Bryn Lane. So, check the latest travel details when you book.

Llay Welfare’s Bonfire and Firework Bonanza
Next, head to Llay on Friday 6 November for Llay Miners Welfare FC’s Bonfire and Firework Bonanza. Gates open at 4.30pm, the bonfire lighting is at 6.30pm and the fireworks start at 7pm. It all takes place at Llay Miners Welfare, The Ring, Llay, LL12 0TH.
The club calls it Llay’s biggest night of the year, and there’s plenty to keep the whole family busy. As well as the bonfire and fireworks, there’s a family disco, Simons Funfair, face painting and a games stall. In addition, you’ll find a catering van, an ice cream van, a pick and mix stall and a football card stall.
Entry costs £5 for adults and £2.50 for under 16s, and you pay at the gate. Padel Point Wrexham is sponsoring this year’s event, and the money raised helps to support the football club. Last year, there was no public parking on site, so walking or sharing a lift is a good idea.
Wrexham Bonfire and Fireworks Display at Penyllan Farm
To round off the week, the Wrexham Bonfire and Fireworks Display returns to Penyllan Farm on Sunday 8 November. Gates open at 4pm, and the organisers light the bonfire at 6pm. You’ll find the farm at Marchwiel, Wrexham, LL13 0PF, just a short drive from the city centre.
This popular family event takes place at the farm every November. Alongside the bonfire and fireworks, there are funfair rides, games and plenty of food. So, it’s a great way to round off Bonfire Night week in Wrexham with a bang.
Entry costs £5 per person, under 5s go free and there’s free parking on site. However, the organisers ask that you leave your sparklers at home. For updates on the night, keep an eye on the Wrexham Bonfire and Fireworks Display Facebook page.

Displays Just Over the Border
If you can’t wait for Bonfire Night, the Lord Mayor’s Spooktacular Fireworks lights up Chester Racecourse on Saturday 31 October. Gates open at 5pm, with a junior display at 6.45pm and the main show at 7.30pm. Adult general admission costs £15, and children aged 4 and under go free.
Meanwhile, Llangollen Railway’s Ride the Rocket returns on Saturday 7 November. A steam train leaves Llangollen at 6pm and travels through the Dee Valley to Corwen for the town’s fireworks display. Tickets cost £28 for adults and £10 for children, and the railway recommends booking in advance.
Both events are very popular, so book early and check the organisers’ websites before you travel. There’s no parking at Chester Racecourse and the event is cashless, so plan ahead before you set off. Of course, there’s still plenty of choice for Bonfire Night in Wrexham without leaving the county.
More Bonfire Night Events in Wrexham to Look Out For
Some of the county’s regular displays hadn’t confirmed their 2026 details at the time of writing. For example, Chirk AAA held a fireworks display on Bonfire Night last year. So, keep an eye on the club’s social media for news of this year’s event.
Meanwhile, Wrexham Council’s Safe Places team usually hosts a silent disco and low-noise firework display at Brymbo Sports and Social Complex. Last year, it took place in mid-November, with entry costing £5 per person. The quieter fireworks make it a great choice for anyone who finds loud bangs difficult.

Stay Safe on Bonfire Night in Wrexham
Wrexham Council and North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are urging everyone to choose organised displays this Bonfire Night. Councillor Hugh Jones, Lead Member for Strategic Planning and Public Protection, said, “We want everyone to be able to enjoy Bonfire Night safely.” He also warned that unauthorised bonfires can put animals and wildlife at risk.
Adrian Owen, Prevention Watch Manager for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, agreed. He said, “Bonfire Night is a time for people to come together and enjoy the celebrations, but safety must come first.” So, wrap up warm, keep children close and follow the organisers’ instructions on the night.
Don’t forget about our four-legged friends either, as fireworks can be very frightening for pets. Our guide to firework-phobic dogs has plenty of tips to help them cope. Also, hedgehogs love to shelter in piles of wood and leaves, so always check before lighting any bonfire.
