Our brand-new facilities provide Wrexham with a world-class centre for both tennis and padel. The padel courts have been hugely popular with our regular users and have also brought in many new faces around the centre.”
What is Padel?
Padel is an exciting racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. You play in doubles on an enclosed court with glass and mesh walls, allowing for dynamic and creative play.
Originating in Mexico in the 1960s, padel has rapidly gained worldwide popularity, particularly in Spain, Latin America, and Europe. The game follows tennis-style scoring, with underhand serving and unique shot-making off the walls.
The sport has become a favourite of many celebrities, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Novak Djokovic, David Beckham and Brad Pitt.

What Else is New at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre?
The new padel courts are part of a £2.5 million refurbishment, primarily funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, with additional support from Sport Wales and Wrexham Council. However, the improvements extend far beyond just padel. Other upgrades at the centre include:
- A modernised reception area – providing a welcoming and contemporary space for visitors.
- Refurbished changing rooms – a fresh, modern area for both tennis and padel players.
- A brand-new café – perfect for pre- or post-game refreshments, with fantastic viewing areas overlooking the indoor tennis and padel courts.
- Nine resurfaced outdoor tennis courts – delivering a top-quality playing experience and enabling the centre to host national and international tournaments.
- Enhanced floodlighting – four outdoor tennis courts now feature energy-efficient LED lighting, allowing evening play throughout the year.
- A revamped multi-functional public space – available for hire for community events, fitness classes, or meetings.
