Lucy Gregory And Jacqueline Palmer – Acrefair is looking cleaner and brighter thanks to the outstanding efforts of Lucy Gregory, the newest member of the #StayOnSide Cefn Litter Picker team, and community volunteer Jacqueline Palmer.
Lucy Gregory
A few Sundays ago, Lucy took it upon herself to tackle litter in the area, collecting an incredible six full bags of rubbish, including discarded bags, doll toys, an aluminium tray, two gas canisters, and even an umbrella—all on her own!
Her dedication and commitment to the community have not gone unnoticed, with Andrew Ruscoe, Community Development Officer, praising her incredible work: “Lucy’s hard work and determination are truly inspiring. Her willingness to roll up her sleeves and take action shows exactly what the #StayOnSide project is all about – creating a cleaner, safer community that we can all be proud of. I’m beyond impressed with her efforts, and I hope her example encourages others to do the same.”

The #StayOnSide initiative is more than just educating young people about the dangers of anti-social behaviour – it’s about actively preventing it, clearing it up, and creating a sense of community responsibility. Thanks to passionate individuals like Lucy, the streets of Acrefair are becoming cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for everyone.

Jacqueline Palmer
Dedicated community volunteer Jacqueline Anne Palmer has been making a remarkable impact in Cefn Mawr, spending an astonishing 30 to 40 hours every week ensuring the streets remain clean and litter-free. Her tireless efforts have not gone unnoticed, with Cefn Community Council and residents expressing their deep gratitude for her hard work.
As part of the #StayOnSide Cefn Litter Pickers initiative, Jacqueline was recently out in Plas Madoc. Her latest efforts also resulted in the collection of six full bags of rubbish, along with the removal of a dumped oven carcass left by the litter bin at the Hampden Way bus stop.

Cefn Community Council’s Community Development Officer, Andrew Ruscoe, praised Jacqueline’s dedication, saying, “We are immensely proud to finally capture Jacqueline as part of the team. She is a natural leader in keeping our community tidy, and her dedication is second to none. If anyone deserves an OBE for their commitment to making a difference daily, it’s Jacqueline.”
