Wrexham Couple win £5,000 in Nightingale House summer draw. Wrexham couple Keith and Dorothy Herniman have been revealed as the lucky winners of the £5,000 top prize in this year’s Nightingale House Hospice Summer Super Draw.

“Respite Care”

The couple have long supported the hospice and its work. They were left delighted and a little stunned when they received the news. Reflecting on their connection to the hospice, Keith said, “My mother had cancer, and she had respite care at the hospice. You can’t really put that into words. Nightingale House is such a special place. It’s not the sort of thing you experience in everyday life nowadays, that level of personal care. The hospice offers something different, something very special.”

The couple live just down the road from Nightingale House. They appreciate the value of having such a vital service within the community, regardless of whether they might need it themselves one day.

When asked about their plans for the prize money, Keith revealed, “We haven’t had a long holiday this year, so we’re thinking about an autumn break.” Dorothy added, “And I’ve been asking for a new kitchen for two years, so it might finally happen!”

Summer Super Draw

The couple are long-time supporters of the hospice’s fundraising efforts. They had this to say to anyone considering playing the Nightingale House Lottery or entering the Super Draw: “It’s a very good idea. This is what you can get out of it. Even if you don’t win, you’re supporting a cause that helps so many people.”

Amanda Kinsey, Lottery Manager at Nightingale House Hospice, said, “We would like to congratulate Keith and Dorothy on their win, as well as the five other winners who each won £1,000, and thank everyone who entered this year’s Summer Super Draw. Every ticket sold helps fund the expert care and support the hospice provides to people in the community who are living with life-limiting conditions, and their families.”
