Fans of Wrexham AFC showed their support for Hope House Children’s Hospices in memory of a young boy who died suddenly in his sleep.

A collection was held at the Racecourse Ground on 14th October ahead of the Dragons’ game against Salford City. Honouring Evan Williams from Wrexham, who died 10 years ago, at 12 years old. His mum, Jane, called on fans attending the match to donate to the charity in recognition of the help her family has received from Hope House since then.

All the money raised went towards supporting seriously ill local children and their families. Jane said: “I honestly don’t know what we would have done without the support we received from Hope House. Evan died so young, but we were so proud of him and so was everyone else who knew him.”

Elliot Lee

Wrexham footballer Elliot Lee has kicked off a vehicle leasing firm’s toy drive in aid of a children’s hospice charity.

The midfielder visited the V4B Group’s HQ in Wrexham to launch the company’s initiative to collect toys for children at Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith. The Dragons’ top scorer, who played a key role in the club’s return to the Football League, even brought along his own donation.

All toys will be given to seriously ill children who receive care at the two hospices in Oswestry and Conwy. The toy drive will run until the beginning of December. With a dedicated drop-off point at the company’s base at Ellkat House on Wrexham Industrial Estate.
