Three Things To Do When Visiting Scotland

Have you just booked a trip to Scotland and are thinking about what to do? Scotland is a beautiful country with so much to see and do. One minute you could be drinking at an award-winning cocktail bar, the next exploring a historic site, learning about the history and what happened in the past. Many people like to enjoy road trips around Scotland, as you can visit the main cities as well as explore some of the countryside, which is truly wonderful.

Whether you’re interested in history, nature, food, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Scotland offers countless opportunities to explore at your own pace. To help you make the most of your visit, here are three things you should definitely add to your itinerary when travelling around this incredible country.

Explore the Culture and Creativity of Glasgow

When travelling to Scotland, part of your trip has to include stopping off to explore Glasgow. Glasgow is one of the most popular places to visit in Scotland (if not the most popular), and it’s no surprise when you consider it ticks every box. For a start, visiting a comedy club is a must. Art lovers should make time to visit Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, whilst foodies can enjoy restaurants, stylish cocktail bars and cosy pubs where you can sample everything from modern Scottish cuisine to international dishes.

Discover Scotland’s Whisky Heritage

One thing that Scotland is known for is their Whisky. Whether you are into whisky or not, there is a good chance you have tried a Scottish whisky before, and on the off chance you haven’t, then there is no better place to try it than in Scotland itself. Across the country, you’ll find distilleries that have been producing whisky for generations, many of which offer guided tours and tastings. Just make sure you book a taxi before and after, as sometimes you’ll find they are further out than where you are staying.

Explore the Scottish Highlands

If you want to see Scotland at its most breathtaking, head north into the Scottish Highlands. This region is famous for its rugged mountains, shimmering lochs and vast open landscapes that feel wonderfully untouched. This is one of those must-do or arguably bucket list activities when visiting Scotland, as the landscapes will simply take your breath away. There is one rule: you must bring a camera with you – you won’t want to miss the chance to capture some incredible photos! Above, we mentioned Scotland being perfect for a road trip, and if you are planning on doing one, then you should almost certainly include the Scottish Highlands as part of the journey. There is something very relaxing about being outdoors in Scotland.

We hope you have a wonderful time visiting Scotland. Whatever you choose to do, we are sure you will love every second.
