A harp workshop comes to Tŷ Pawb this October, bringing a Rhos-born musician’s story full circle.
Discover The Harp brings its popular beginner workshop to Tŷ Pawb, Wrexham. The workshop runs on Saturday 17 October 2026, from 10am to 1pm. It needs no musical experience, and every participant takes home a handcrafted Welsh harp.
A Homecoming Rooted in Rhos
For workshop leader Helen Naylor, Director of Cambrian Harps and Discover The Harp, bringing the event to Wrexham feels personal. She grew up in Rhosllanerchrugog, where her father served as the local vicar for twelve years. “Rhos has such a rich musical identity,” Helen explained. “It has always been a place where music brings people together.”
Like many people from Rhos, Helen went on to build a music career. She now leads Cambrian Harps and Discover The Harp. She also serves as Head of Harp at the International School of Musicians. Her husband Paul is a harp maker and co-founder of Derwent Harps. Together, the pair have created a friendly, accessible way for complete beginners to try the harp.
Learning an Instrument at Any Age
The workshop aims to show that you can learn an instrument at any age. It also offers a calming, mindful way to make music, while participants take home an instrument made in Wales.
For £199, participants receive three hours of expert tuition and a handcrafted Welsh harp. A tuning key, digital education pack and ISoM Step 1 Certificate are also included. Spaces are limited, so organisers recommend booking early through Tŷ Pawb.
