Former British number one Annabel Croft is coming to Wrexham for a one-off in-conversation event during tournament week.
Annabel Croft, the tennis prodigy turned leading sports broadcaster, will appear at Grove Park Theatre on Wednesday 21 October. Her visit falls during the Lexus Wrexham Open. This prestigious ITF World Tennis Tour event takes place at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre.
A Career On and Off Court
At just 15, Annabel became the youngest Briton in nearly a century to play in the Wimbledon main draw. She also won the Wimbledon and Australian Open junior titles. Later, she reached world No. 24 on the main women’s tour, before retiring from the sport at 21.
After that, Annabel moved seamlessly into broadcasting. Today, she is one of the most recognisable and respected voices in tennis. For three decades, she has covered the global tour, including all four Grand Slams, bringing expert insight to audiences worldwide.
“I’m really looking forward to my visit to Wrexham during the Lexus Wrexham Open in October,” Annabel said. “I thoroughly enjoyed my theatre tour last year, so it will be lovely to be back on stage sharing stories from my career.”
A Highlight of Tournament Week
Tournament promoter Dave Courteen welcomed the news. “We are delighted that Annabel is coming to Wrexham and it’s guaranteed to be one of the highlights of a really exciting week,” he said.
He added that organisers always try to hold events across the city during the tournament. “Following the success of The Tennis Podcast Live show at Grove Park Theatre last year, it’s fantastic that Annabel will now be visiting the city to create another entertaining event for tennis fans,” he said. “Tickets are limited, so we recommend that people who are keen to come along snap them up as soon as possible.”
From Wimbledon to Strictly
Annabel will also talk about her run to the Strictly Come Dancing semi-finals in 2023. Her dance partner, Johannes Radebe, is now co-host of the series. Tennis Wales and Cheshire Tennis sponsor the evening.
Tickets cost £26.50. Alternatively, a VIP meet-and-greet with Annabel costs £46.50. They are available via TicketSource.
