Want to be warm, toasty, and very cosy when you’re at home this winter? It’s something we all want, but also something many of us never quite fully pull off because we just don’t know what we can do, other than wrapping up warm, to feel cosier in our spaces. It’s time to change that with these 6 simple changes for a cosier home right now and all winter long.
1. Add more texture
One of the best ways to feel more cosy at home is to simply add more texture into your space. A few more blankets, throws, rugs, and cushions will ensure that you are always surrounded by soft, warm fabrics that you can wrap yourself in or cuddle up with, or which will keep your feet warm on those cold winter nights. Wool and velvet are particularly good in the winter!
2. Thicker Curtains
In the winter months, you want your home to be as warm as possible, right? That’s why it might be worth investing in some made-to-measure curtains that are thick, lined and cosy. They will not only help to keep the warmth of your central heating in, but they will enhance the comfy winter style of your home too.
3. Light Some Candles
Candles are great at this time of year because they offer a much softer level of light than most lamps, and their flickering natural flame adds a certain magic to any home. So, whenever you do not need more illumination – when you’re dining or relaxing – turn off the main lights, and light a candle or two instead. Bonus points if it has a lovely winter scent like cinnamon or pine.

4. Fairy Lights Are Fun, Too
If candles aren’t your thing, or you can’t light them because you have children or dogs who will be drawn to them, fairy lights are great at creating a similarly cosy atmosphere that will warm your heart like those new throws you’ve gotten to warm your body.
5. Get Better Bedding
Being cosy when you retire to bed is really important, right? So, you might want to give your bedding an upgrade, too. Start with feather pillows, which are plump and luxurious, and then invest in cotton or silk sheets that feel good against your skin, and a high tog rating duvet that you can just sink under. Finish off with a wool throw or two, and cosiness is pretty much guaranteed.
6. Move The Furniture
Depending on where it is right now, rearranging your furniture can actually help you to stay warmer and feel more cosy. For example, moving your favourite chair next to the fire will give you a cosy space to read or moving your couch so it does not block the radiators will ensure your home is as warm as it can be.
Now, all that remains is to brew yourself a pumpkin spice latte, pick out a good book and snuggle up in your newly cosy space until winter goes away again!
