Home Instead care providers have continued to keep older members of the community safe and well throughout some of the toughest times.
We speak to owner Matthew Murray-James about Home Instead’s journey to becoming one of the leading home care providers in Wales.
What Made You Decide to Set Up Home Instead?
Providing great care is much harder than it sounds. I was looking for care for my grandmother and found it a struggle to find good-quality care. When we discovered Home Instead, the quality of care was outstanding – we couldn’t have asked for more. When I found out I could set up my own branch of Home Instead, it was an easy decision to take. Despite working in a completely different field at the time. Being able to deliver consistently high standards of care to others is something I feel really passionate about. Home Instead’s own ethos completely aligns with that.
Together with my wife Sam, we’ve been running Home Instead Wrexham and Flintshire for over six years. We have consistently been recognised as one of the top home-care providers in Wales (through independent feedback at homecare.co.uk). We’re proud to be part of the Home Instead family and see how the business has grown and developed.
What Is so Different About Home Instead Care?
Everyone who works for Home Instead has the same goal: making a difference to our clients’ lives.
We don’t believe that care should be “one size fits all”. All our clients are unique individuals whose care needs reflect this. Home Instead offers bespoke, tailored care packages that can meet their exact needs and expectations.
We also offer longer care visits – it’s essential to buildup great, lasting relationships with our clients. My aim is for our CAREGivers to feel like an extension of the family. That way, clients feel comfortable and at ease in their company.
We pride ourselves on our wonderful team of CAREGivers. Their compassion and warmth, their reliability, their consistency and the exceptional quality of care they provide.
We also have a fantastic office staff team, working behind the scenes to support them and keep the cogs turning. Together they make a formidable team – we wouldn’t have got to where we are today without our staff’s dedication.
How Has Home Instead Responded to the Recent Pandemic?
Despite lots of panic and uncertainty around us, business has pretty much carried on as usual for our team! We’ve been busier than ever due to many people needing additional care, especially when families have been unable to visit or travel due to restrictions.
Ensuring the safety of our clients during this time has been our number one priority. From day one, we introduced strict infection-control measures, extra training and full PPE for our CAREGivers. Remote working became the norm for our office team and we are now in full swing with regular Covid testing too. The vaccine programme brings hope that we are now on a brighter path and we are thankful that all our active staff have now been vaccinated.
We have certainly missed the face-to-face interaction with the local community through our outreach programmes, such as our Memory Lane café or Love to Move classes. As the country begins to open back up, we really look forward to seeing everyone in person again.
