The current car boot sale has been held on Chirk airfield for the last 26 years and has grown from humble beginnings to become one of the largest and most popular in North Wales, Cheshire, and Shropshire.
It is held every Sunday and Bank holiday Monday from March to November and many thousands of people have visited Chirk car boot over the years and rummaged through the bargains and collectable items available.
Since Saxon Times
Historically, there has been a market in the Chirk area since Saxon times. We have a large and mixed variety of household clearance stalls and market traders selling everything from farm equipment and garden tools to cheese and from clothing to toys, antiques, collectable vintage cars, bikes, farm and garden furniture, and statues.
Chirk car boot has an eclectic mix of unusual items for sale with all types of furniture and collectable household items you can use to fill your home.
The top field also has an interesting museum. Please come in and take a look at the BBC story about the salvage of the RMS Lusitania and the finding of the RMS Titanic, which sank in 1912. There are three DH Dragon Rapide aircraft from the 1930s and a Jodel aircraft from the 1950s, plus various engines and sports cars from the 1960s.
The museum is open for most of the main car boot season. At the top end of the field is an old coal mine called Annie’s Mine that dates back to 1399. For more events, click here.
