More A-Listers Hit Wrexham – You may have noticed Channing Tatum paid a surprise visit to Wrexham in December. He and Ryan Reynolds appeared in the Fat Boar on the Friday before the Wrexham AFC home tie against Cambridge United, which finished 2-2.
Further Sightings
There were further sightings in and around the city the following morning, including one at the new local cafe Zerno on High Street.
If you’re wondering about the connection between the two film stars, Tatum starred with Reynolds in the recent Deadpool and Wolverine movie as Remy LeBeau/Gambit.

Reynolds and Tatum were also joined by another actor, Brandon Sklenar, who recently appeared in It Ends With Us with Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively. Reynolds wished the other customers a Merry Christmas and brought the house down when he announced, “I’m buying a round for everyone in here”, before adding, “If I don’t come to visit each and every one of you tonight in your homes, I just want to say happy holidays.”
Green Day’s Billie Jo Armstrong
As if that wasn’t enough A-list stardust, Green Day frontman Billie Jo Armstrong also attended the match! Tim Edwards from the Fearless in Devotion podcast said, “I got a steer that Green Day were going to be in the new Turf fan zone. Then a blacked-out Mercedes people carrier arrives, and out pops Billie Joe Armstrong. I was like, “Jesus Christ – it’s a third of Green Day!”

Edwards was full of praise for Armstrong and added, “This is a guy with five Grammys and 75 million albums sold worldwide. It’s a big deal, so I schmoozed over to the corner where he was on the reserved Welcome to Wrexham documentary table.
Tim also revealed that Armstrong hinted he might return to Wrexham one day to play a gig: “He was just lovely, posing for pictures and chilling out. I had a chat with him, and I said that it would be great if you could play here one day, and he said, ‘We’d love to”.
