The Boat at Erbistock, a well-known riverside pub near Wrexham, has picked up a major national award, putting local food firmly in the spotlight.
Celebrating Excellence
The Boat at Erbistock was named “Best Game Restaurant or Pub” at the Eat Game Awards in London. This recognition came as a welcome surprise to the team.

The national award is held at Soane Hall in Marylebone and hosted by BBC Countryfile’s Adam Henson. It celebrates excellence in the production and cooking of game. The Boat had no idea it was on the shortlist until shortly before the event. This made the eventual win all the more rewarding.
Owner Graham Price said the team was “delighted” to be recognised. He added that the accolade reflects the pub’s active role within the local rural economy. Since taking on the venue in 2019, he has built a reputation for quality food alongside a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere in some of the most picturesque surroundings imaginable.
Wide Appeal
The Boat’s menu is thoughtfully designed to appeal widely. It combines premium game dishes with excellent options for vegetarians and vegans, alongside a mix of regional and international flavours.

While food is central to its identity, the pub remains true to its traditional roots. It offers quality cask ales, an extensive wine list, and even its own unique house gin.
With a strong team working hard in both the kitchen and front of house, The Boat continues to draw visitors from across the region to its scenic riverside setting – now with the national recognition to match.
