Healthcare Matters is celebrating its 20-year anniversary with a major move to a new headquarters at Llay Industrial Estate, alongside plans to expand services across Wales. The company supplies a wide range of healthcare equipment.
Economic Challenges
The company has recently doubled its turnover to £4.6 million and increased its workforce to 53, despite wider economic challenges.
Managing Director Adam Spiby said growth has remained steady and values-led: “It all boils down to
treating people the way we want to be treated, and providing the best service and the best solutions.” He added that the move signals “an exciting new chapter” for the business.
Founded by Phil Spiby, following a life-changing heart attack, the company began by supplying specialist beds before expanding into a wide range of healthcare equipment.

New Site
Today, it supports the NHS, local authorities and private care providers, offering products such as hoists, beds and mobility aids, alongside a 24-hour servicing operation.
The new site will also include dedicated training facilities for healthcare professionals, helping staff gain confidence using equipment in real-world settings. In addition, the company is developing a digital resource aimed at improving support for vulnerable patients living independently.
Further expansion plans include sharing its lean methodology expertise with other businesses.
