Some of Wrexham’s most loved and distinctive attractions have come together in a new joint venture. The initiative is designed to showcase the very best the county borough has to offer this summer.
Eight Must-See Locations, 314 Million Years of History
The collaboration brings together a diverse mix of heritage, culture, science and natural attractions. Consequently, it creates an easy-to-follow, family-friendly visitor trail. Residents and tourists alike are encouraged to explore Wrexham in a new way. The trail highlights eight must-see locations across the area, guiding visitors through a journey spanning 314 million years of history.
Participating attractions include Stori Brymbo, Xplore! Science Discovery Centre and the Football Museum of Wales, opening in 2026. Also featured are Wrexham Miners Project, St Giles’ Church, Erddig Hall & Garden and Chirk Castle & Garden. Pontcysyllte Aqueduct & Visitor Centre and Tŷ Pawb, home of the Wrexham Visitor Information Centre, complete the trail.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding secured through This is Wrecsam’s Key Fund Grant. This came from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Consequently, visitors can grab a guide and follow the trail. Also, a brochure with an illustrated map is available at any of the attractions.
Summer Activities Across Every Stop
Many of the attractions will be running a range of activities for families over the summer holidays. Stori Brymbo, set on the site of a former steelworks, is home to one of the most significant fossil discoveries in Wales. Meanwhile, Xplore! Science Discovery Centre recently unveiled a brand-new planetarium, offering immersive shows beneath a full dome of stars.
Erddig Hall & Garden is celebrated for its uniquely preserved servants’ quarters. It offers a rare glimpse into life both upstairs and downstairs. Chirk Castle, a working Marcher castle for more than 700 years, regularly hosts family activity days across the school holidays. Furthermore, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, carries the Llangollen Canal high above the River Dee.
