All through October, the team at Regent House of Flowers is wearing bras over their uniforms – and it’s all to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.
If you’ve popped into Regent House of Flowers on Yorke Street this month, you may have done a double take. Laura Evison, Sian and Harriett Evison are wearing bras over their black uniforms every day of October – Laura in white, Sian in black and Harriett in pink. Their fundraiser, ‘Bras and Big Hearts’, is raising money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now.
A Little Silly, a Lot of Heart
The team admit their outfits look a little ridiculous. However, there’s a very serious reason behind them. Breast cancer touches so many people and so many families. Most of us know someone whose life has been affected by it, whether that’s a mum, sister, daughter, partner, friend or colleague.
For Team Regent, the fundraiser is personal. Laura, Sian and Harriett are doing it in memory of friends and family members they have lost to breast cancer. At the same time, they want to show their support for everyone going through treatment, living with breast cancer or through the other side.
The bras are there to grab attention and start conversations. Most importantly, they’re there to raise money for breast cancer research and support. As the team put it: “For those we’ve lost. For those still fighting. For those who have survived. And for a future where fewer people are affected by breast cancer.”

How to Support Team Regent
Laura has set up a Team Regent JustGiving page with a target of £200. Every donation, big or small, helps. Even a few pounds soon adds up.
If you can’t donate, you can still help by sharing the fundraiser and spreading the word. Better still, call in at the shop on Yorke Street, pick up some flowers and say hello. You won’t have any trouble spotting them.

The team would also like to say a big thank you to Asda Wrexham, who supplied the bras.
Wear It Pink on Friday 23 October
Want to join in? Breast Cancer Now’s Wear It Pink day takes place on Friday 23 October. Schools, workplaces and community groups across the country will be dressing in pink and raising money for research and support. Bras over your clothes are entirely optional!
Support Is Always There
If you’re worried about breast cancer, or want to talk things through, Breast Cancer Now’s expert nurses can help. Call the free helpline on 0808 800 6000 or visit Talk to a nurse on the Breast Cancer Now website.
