
Firstly, applications are now open for The Heritage Fund and Welsh Government’s new grant programmes. This is helping communities to look after the natural world.
Secondly, the one-year programmes, that are worth over £3million, will enable local communities across Wales to get involved. It will help with restoring and enhancing nature, including; woodlands.
The two new community programmes are:
- Local Places for Nature – applications now open until 14th October 2020
- Community Woodlands – applications now open until 21st October 2020
About The National Lottery Heritage Fund
The National Lottery Heritage Fund, distribute National Lottery grants from £3,000 to £5million, or over, to fund projects that sustain and transform the UK’s heritage.
They distribute non-Lottery funding, which also includes grant-in-aid/government funding and loans, to heritage organisations.
On their website the National Lottery state “Understanding, valuing and sharing our heritage brings people together, inspires pride in communities and boosts investment in local economies. We’re supporting the heritage sector to strengthen its recovery from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and build back for positive change.”
The National Heritage Memorial Fund is their sister organisation. It distributes grant-in-aid/government funding to UK heritage at risk of loss.
