Make the Most of Your Valentine’s Day Makeup

Whether you’re planning on heading out to your favourite restaurant or simply staying in with your besties and a bottle of rose, there’s the perfect look out there for you.

From subtle pink lip gloss to classic red lips and smokey eyes to daring clashing colours, here are some of the most on-trend makeup looks for you to try this Valentine’s Day.

A Touch of Blush

Nothing says romance more than a girlie flush of colour. Think Bridgerton or Regencycore, which champion a hyperfeminine style. Blush has taken a back seat recently in favour of bronzers, contour creams and highlighters, but it’s back, and I love it! Wear it high on your cheekbones for a lifted, fresh face or on the apples of your cheeks for a natural rosy glow. A cream blush is a real game changer for all complexions.

Natural Lashes, Bold Lips

Give classic red lipstick a modern update with a velvet finish and “barely there” lashes. Lashes are subtler now than over the last couple of years, with catwalk looks featuring a barely-even-wearing mascara look. Brows are also more natural as the focus shifts towards letting the skin and the blush do the work. An accent of a bold red lip finishes this look off beautifully.

Lips

Smokey Feline Eyes

A smokey eye never dates and suits most people. Go subtle or bold with browns, greys or darker metallics. Feline or Siren eyes are still big, but for a softer look (or if you’re not too confident with an eyeliner), use your darkest eyeshadow to create a smokey lash line and a subtle flick at the outer corner of your eye. Combine with a little bronzer dust and a clear or very pale pink lip gloss.

Clashing Colours

Think pinks, oranges and reds. Clashing or contrasting colours are on-trend and look striking for any fashionista wishing to make a statement this Valentine’s Day. Whichever look you are drawn to, my advice is always to choose a look that makes the best of your features, and makes you feel confident and utterly gorgeous.

How to Choose Your Look

Think about your everyday look and what you are comfortable with. You don’t want something that makes you self-conscious if you rarely wear makeup or prefer a natural look. Prepping clean, hydrated skin will help makeup sit on your skin better, and help it last longer too. Pick your best feature to accentuate – let nature do some of the work! Practice makes perfect, so try a few different looks beforehand and practice over and over until you’re happy with one.

A good makeup look should make you feel amazing so keep experimenting! If you need help, I can work with you one-to-one to create that perfect look.
