The Cross Keys Llanfynydd

The Cross Keys in Llanfynydd is thrilled to introduce its new Landlord, Trevor Dawson – or simply “Trev” as he’s affectionately known to his new local friends. Trev brings a wealth of hospitality experience, a love for local pubs and a vision to keep The Cross Keys thriving as a vibrant community hub.

Well-Travelled

Trev’s journey in hospitality has taken him from DJing and entertainment to managing hotels, wedding venues, popular nightclubs and even music festivals. He’s also well-travelled, having lived and worked in places as diverse as Ibiza, Tenerife, Cyprus, Cornwall and beyond. Despite this international experience, Trev’s heart remains firmly in the UK pub industry, where he embraces an “old-fashioned landlord mentality” with a modern twist.

Trev was more than happy to discuss his new role, saying, “I was looking for a community-infused pub with a promising future, and The Cross Keys is exactly that. A good local pub is about a combination of things – a warm and welcoming team who prioritise their guests, being a central part of the community, serving quality fresh food and, of course, offering great local ales and beers.”

Looking Ahead

Trev also had high praise for the pub’s previous landlord, Patryk Kapelinski and the incredible work he and his team have done since the pub’s reopening in 2023.

“Patryk has set a fantastic foundation here, and I’m excited to build on it while bringing my personality to the mix. It’s an honour to be part of its journey,” Trev says.

Looking ahead, Trev has ambitious plans for 2025. Alongside entertainment offerings and unique twists on the pub’s popular quizzes, Trev is collaborating closely with Head Chef Song Sima (Simon) on creative menu updates. He will also work closely with the Spicy Socials group, supporting their community outdoor exercise initiatives. One of the first collaborations will be “The Smithy Bakery at The Cross Keys”, a joint venture with two of the Spicy Socials founders Gareth and Clare. Opening Saturday mornings, the bakery will serve freshly baked bread, homemade cakes and hot drinks – the perfect pitstop for cyclists passing by.

A Firm Commitment

The new landlord also has a firm commitment to continuing The Cross Keys’ charity work, actively supporting causes close to the community’s heart, such as The Welsh Air Ambulance. The pub has a proud history of giving back, and Trev is keen to ensure this remains at the heart of its identity.

Under Trev’s stewardship, The Cross Keys is ready to build on its strong foundations to become an even greater focal point to Llanyfyndd. With his focus on community connections and his passion for hospitality and fresh ideas, the pub’s future is brighter than ever. Your new landlord and his team look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new customers through the doors very soon.
