SINGER Tom Walker’s special charity performance for Nightingale House Hospice over the first May Bank Holiday weekend marked a welcome return to a city he seems to have taken to his heart.

High-Energy but Intimate

The hundreds attending created a high-energy but intimate atmosphere inside a big top on Llwyn Isaf in the heart of Wrexham.  Hosted by FOCUS Wales, the gig was in aid of the hospice’s 30th anniversary and was supported by local hit band Declan Swans.

Joining Tom on stage was Gabriel Roberts, an 18-year-old musician and songwriter from Liverpool who accompanied Tom for a performance of perhaps his most famous song, ‘Leave a Light On.’

Tom Walker, who won the Breakthrough Artist award at the Brits in 2019, has had a string of hits, including ‘Better Half Of Me’ and ‘Just You and I’. He performed two memorable acoustic gigs in Wrexham last year, which were a huge hit with fans.

Catherine, Princess of Wales

Walker was born in Kilsyth, North Lanarkshire. Despite relocating with his family to Chelford, Cheshire when he was three, Walker claims his upbringing was still ‘Glaswegian’, due to his Scottish background. He speaks with a Glasgow accent when with family or in Scotland. His favourite artists while growing up included Ray Charles, Muddy Waters and Paolo Nutini. In 2014, Walker graduated from London College of Creative Media.

As part of “Royal Carols: Together at Christmas” in December 2021, Tom Walker performed “For Those Who Can’t Be Here” with Catherine, Princess of Wales (at the time styled the Duchess of Cambridge) playing piano.

May Concert Reviews

Amazing Performance

An evening to remember, with an amazing performance by Tom that left me with goosebumps. Such a powerful voice delivering thought-provoking words while he played the guitar, making it sound as if he were talking to you. Interactions with the crowd were natural, and he was joined on stage by a young man.

Great Night

Tom was very engaging with the crowd. He has an amazing voice, which came across brilliantly. The sound check was obviously done well, as this was a small outdoor venue 😆.
