Hollywood Pair Join the Mic at Wrexham

Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney stepped into the commentary box during Wrexham AFC’s Welsh derby against Swansea City on Sky Sports.

The pair featured on an alternative broadcast, offering a more relaxed take on the Championship fixture. Hosted by David Prutton, the programme blended live match coverage with discussion around the club’s recent progress.

A Different Kind of Commentary

Rather than delivering traditional play-by-play, the duo shared unscripted reactions and insight into life as owners. As a result, viewers were given a more personal angle on the club’s journey.

The broadcast also included guest appearances and reflections on Wrexham’s rise through the English football pyramid. Meanwhile, on the pitch, Wrexham secured a 2–0 win to strengthen their push for a play-off place.

Goal Confusion Explained

Supporters at the Racecourse Ground have noticed an unusual feature this season. At times, goals appear to bounce back into play immediately after crossing the line, causing confusion among players and fans alike.

This issue links to changes made to the pitch last summer. A new surface, built to meet UEFA dimensions, required adjustments to the goal setup. Consequently, free-standing goals with a solid base bar are now in use.

While the design can create sharp rebounds, all equipment meets regulations and has been approved. In addition, Hawkeye goal-line technology alerts officials instantly when a goal is scored. Club officials have confirmed the arrangement is temporary while longer-term solutions are considered.

Kop Development Takes Shape

Meanwhile, work on the new Kop Stand continues to move forward. Recent progress includes the rise of slipform structures as concrete is poured to form key elements of the build.

As a result, the project is now entering a more visible phase. Reinforcement work continues, and preparations for the steel framework are underway. Gradually, the scale of the redevelopment is becoming clearer, marking another step in the club’s long-term plans for the stadium.
