North Wales lawyer Andrew Foley Jones has completed his It’s Always Sunny in Wrexham trilogy, and a screen adaptation is already in development.

It’s Always Sunny in Wrexham imagines a fanatical fan waking from a decade-long coma. He discovers his fifth-tier club is now Hollywood-owned and heading for the Premier League. Andrew Foley Jones, a lifelong Wrexham AFC supporter, wrote the satirical series. The first instalment became an Amazon best-seller, and Parts Two and Three have now completed the story.

The Lawyer Behind the Story

Andrew is more than the trilogy’s author. He acted for Wrexham AFC free of charge during its fan-owned, pre-takeover days. His firm was later appointed to the legal team behind the 2021 acquisition by Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds. He completed that deal remotely during the pandemic. At three in the morning, he sat in his home office wearing full Wrexham kit. That collision of professional duty and lifelong fandom became the seed for the books.

A Screen Adaptation Takes Shape

Wrexham-based Minera Studios Cymru is now adapting the trilogy for screen. Ruby Snape, Dean Fagan and Ian Puleston-Davies founded the company in 2024. Since then, it has quickly become a significant force in Welsh film. Their short film Box of Frogs stars Mathew Horne and Mark Lewis Jones. It already won Best Short Film in Wales at the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival.

Minera also sits within Wrexham’s wider UK City of Culture 2029 bid. The company has been commissioned to produce the official Wrecsam2029 bid video. Andrew’s trilogy, in turn, forms part of that same creative story.

Heading to the US This Summer

Andrew will travel to the United States this summer to promote the project. His trip coincides with Wrexham AFC’s 2026 US Summer Tour, which features fixtures against Leeds United, Liverpool and Sunderland. The tour follows the FIFA World Cup on American soil. As a result, it places both the club and the trilogy in front of a global football audience.
