Wrexham will pause to remember this weekend. Remembrance Sunday in Wrexham takes place on 8 November, and the city will mark Armistice Day on Wednesday 11 November. Here’s everything you need to know about service times, road closures and parking.

Remembrance Sunday Service at the RWF Memorial

The main service for Remembrance Sunday in Wrexham takes place on Sunday 8 November at the RWF Memorial on Bodhyfryd. It starts at 10.55am, and everyone is welcome to attend. The service remembers those who fought and lost their lives in the First World War, the Second World War and subsequent conflicts.

At 10.59am, a bugler will sound the Last Post, and the two-minute silence will follow. The service is expected to finish at around 12pm. So, it’s a good idea to arrive in plenty of time and find a spot before the parade arrives.

Road Closures and Parking for the Parade

Wrexham Council will put barriers in place at 10.30am so that the parade can pass safely. You’ll find them at three locations:

  • Chester Street, next to the former Feathers pub
  • Holt Street, by the Welch Fusilier pub
  • Chester Road, near the Chester Road and Powell Road roundabout

In addition, the Library and Waterworld car parks will only be available until 10.30am. If you’re driving in, aim to park well before then. Alternatively, walk or use public transport, as the roads around the memorial will be busy.

Armistice Day in Queens Square

Armistice Day falls on Wednesday 11 November, and Wrexham will mark it with a commemoration in Queens Square. An air raid siren will sound across the city centre at 11am. The council encourages members of the public to attend one or both of the memorials.

It’s a quiet but powerful moment in the heart of the city. So, if you work nearby, why not take a few minutes to join in?

Remembrance Services Across the County

Of course, many of the county’s towns and villages hold their own services on Remembrance Sunday. These are usually led by local churches, community councils and veterans’ groups. However, we haven’t yet seen details for every village this year.

So, check your local community council’s website or social media for the latest times. Do you know of a Remembrance service that we’ve missed? Let us know at [email protected], and we’ll do our best to add it.
