In the centre of Wrexham this January as part of a brand-new event – North Wales AuthorEXPO 2020. Event founder J Allan Longshadow tells us more.
What is NW AuthorEXPO 2020?
It’s a brand-new event that brings the public together with a fantastic selection of authors, publishers and other literary organisations all under one roof right here in Wrexham on Saturday 25th January, 2020. Members of the public enjoy free entry to the main exhibition, where they can meet new authors, discover new books, participate in a range of interactive drop-in sessions and learn more about the thriving literature scene in North Wales.
What writers’ workshops are taking place?
There will be six expert-led workshops taking place during the day aimed at new and aspiring authors who wish to develop their career, as well as writers who are looking for new ideas to take their work forward.

- Do it like Dahl – writing fiction for young readers
- Beat the block – how to be a productive writer and overcome writers’ block
- From page to screen – how to take your stories into film
- Getting into audio books – tips for breaking into the audio book market
- Pitching your novel – how to catch the attention of agents and publishers
How much do the workshops cost?
Each workshop costs just £3.50 to attend, while a day ticket giving you access to all six is available for just £10. Tickets can be bought in advance via Eventbrite or purchased on the day on a first-come, first-served basis.
What if I already have a book I wish to promote?
If you have a book that you would like to promote, we warmly invite you to join us as an attending author. As well as your own table, you’ll also be able to take advantage of a 10-minute spot on the Author Spotlight Stage to promote your work.
