Nightingale House Hospice has launched a new frozen and fresh meal delivery service called ‘Meals by Caffi Cwtch’.
Meals Matter
Unable to open during lockdown, the hospice’s Caffi Cwtch started delivering freshly-made delicious meals locally – all with volunteers’ help.
“Meals Matter”, their current service, was such a success that it has now expanded its mouth-watering menu and had a new name – “Meals by Caffi Cwtch”. This new venture features a collection and delivery service and will provide much-needed funds for hospice patient care.
A wide range of fresh and frozen meals are available, including nine new main dishes by Caffi Cwtch award-winning Head Chef Peter Jackson. Menu specials include fresh fish and chips and a tapas selection. The in-house has designed the meal packaging, which will be largely biodegradable.
Freshly Prepared
Yvonne Lush, Head of Clinical and Patient Services, said: “I started ordering Meals Matter for my mother-in-law Ann as I knew the food was freshly prepared, suitable for freezing and the type of thing she likes to eat. I found the ordering easy and I know Ann looked forward to delivery day. Feedback like this made us realise that we had a real demand for this service not just to continue but also to grow.”
Head Chef Peter Jackson added: “We pride ourselves on using natural and wholesome ingredients. Our award-winning team freshly prepare these high-quality dishes on the premises at Caffi Cwtch. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to the launch. This likewise includes our in-house design team, our wonderful group of volunteers and staff, and customers for their continued support.

Nightingale House Hospice
The hospice has also been looking at other ways to keep their finances afloat during this difficult time. Fundraising and other income generation channels, such as retail outlets and an onsite café, meet most of their running costs. They make a significant contribution towards maintaining services for those with life-limiting illnesses within palliative care.
Their services are entirely free-of-charge to patients and their families across our catchment area. The catchment area stretches from Wrexham, Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and border towns, including Oswestry and Whitchurch.
It costs £3,639,801 each year to run Nightingale House Hospice. That’s equivalent to £303,317 per month, £69,996 per week or £9,972 per day.
