The F Jones Initiative has announced its latest round of winners!
Bethan Evans
Firstly, Bethan has been recognised for volunteering work for Wrexham Litter Pickers, she is 14 years old and is in Year 10 at Ysgol Clywedog. She recently organised a 12-hour litter pick in Wrexham, covering nearly 117 miles and collecting 18 bags of rubbish.

Kelly Evans
Kelly started Wrexham Litter Pickers in 2021 after posting on the Wrexham Town Matters Facebook page. She said that she had collected 19 bags of rubbish on her own, in the snow! This post received over 600 likes and also inspired her to set up Wrexham Litter Pickers’ Facebook page.

James Abbott and Matthew Simmonds
James and Matthew rescued two elderly residents from a house fire in Glyn Ceiriog in November 2021. As the blaze was so severe it took 20 firefighters to tackle it!

Ted Edwards
Ted was born in 1925 and grew up in Rhostyllen. At 97, he is the only associated veteran in Wrexham. He served with the Green Howards and landed on Normandy Beach in the Second World War before receiving an injury and working as a driver for the Royal Army Service Corps.
Sam Roberts
Who is Ted’s granddaughter. She, her husband and son have lived with Ted for the last 24 years. Sam is now Ted’s main carer and works as an Asda home shopper picker. She works on the 2am-8am shift, so she can be with Ted in the daytime.

The F Jones Initiative is also trialling a new website this summer. The site has been created by Iwan, Ryan, Matthew and Louis, IT students at Coleg Cambria, Wrexham.
