Loads for the Kids to Do at Erddig This Summer

Hands up, who’s coming out to play this summer? Join the team at Erddig from Saturday, 22nd July, to Sunday, 3rd September, for a summer of play for the whole family.

This is number one in a two-part series of summer activities at our National Trust properties

Summer Activities

Explore their active summer stations and test your little one’s playful and competitive spirit. Whether weaving wheelbarrows on the West Front, teaming up in relay, or racing around the Timber Yard on tricycles, there’s something to keep all ages occupied and gasping for breath! Their active play stations will be available every day of the summer holidays, come rain or shine! 10am to 5pm

Small World Crafts

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness live conservation at Erddig Hall. Preservation work on their much-loved doll’s house in the children’s nursery will be ongoing throughout the summer, giving you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the treasured item.

Coinciding with these works will be the kids’ “small world” crafts sessions every Tuesday. Drop by and get crafty while making and decorating your very own origami doll house. Need some dolls to play with? Every other Tuesday, get creative and transform a traditional wooden peg into your new doll’s house resident!

Doll’s House Origami – 25th July, 8th and 22nd August Wooden Peg Doll Making – August 1st, 15th and 29th 11am to 3pm

Fine Art Fridays

Allow your little ones to pick up a pencil or pastel without the fear of artistic expression on your living room wall! Drop by every Friday for their Fine Art sessions on the garden lawn.

Encourage your little ones to open their eyes and be inspired by the natural beauty of their surroundings, and be sure to attend a session hosted by Megan, one of our volunteer artists.

Every Friday throughout the summer holidays Artist-hosted sessions – August 11th and 18th; 1st September 11am to 3pm

Seed Sowing Sundays

Erddig asked their Head Gardener to choose his ‘go-to’ summer seed mix, and a beautiful array of wildflower seeds was the answer!

Bring your budding gardeners along every Sunday to create their own recycled plant pot and sow Erddig’s head gardener’s favourite seed mix. Replant when you get home and watch your garden transform!

Every Sunday throughout the summer holidays 11am to 3pm

Jake the Storyteller

The much-loved and award-winning storyteller Jake Evans returns this summer! Join him for three magical sessions of storytelling that will keep your little ones gripped to their seats.

July 24th and 31st; 7th August 11.30am to 2.30pm Starling Bank sponsors Erddig’s Summer of Play.

Go Wild in Wolf’s Den

Visit the natural play area this summer! It’s time to hop, skip and jump around. Balance on beams, build dens and climb in our natural playground nestled in Big Wood. Whatever the weather, Wolf’s Den is a great space to let off steam.
