Fan Favourites Return To Wrexham Xplore!
Local parents may feel nostalgic upon next visiting a leading family attraction as a popular exhibit is making its return.
Five extra interactive displays will be available for children… and their parents… at the Xplore! Science Discovery Centre in Wrexham. They will offer a mixture of never-before-seen activities, and one reminiscent of when the charity was first established 20 years ago.
Plasma Globe
After consultations with the community and visitors to the centre, the tourist attraction has welcomed the much-loved Plasma Globe for the first time since it rebranded and relocated to Henblas Street in the city centre. In addition, staff have debuted the Hydrogen Rocket, a sustainably focused exhibit that launches a rocket to the ceiling through electrolysis, demonstrating how aerospace technologies have advanced beyond fossil fuels.
Xplore!’s Projects Officer Dawn Pavey said: “We love hearing from the public and learning what they would like to see, and we hope by refreshing what’s on offer, they will continue to have distinct experiences upon every visit.
“It’s brilliant to provide a range of exhibits which encompass modern and increasingly important topics like the green agenda, as well as ones which parents may remember from their own childhoods.”
The temporary installations are possible due to the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and will be at the Science Discovery Centre for a four-month period.
Jacob’s Ladder
In addition to the Plasma Globe and Hydrogen Rocket, the new activities include:
• Jacob’s Ladder, which showcases how nature creates lightning beams.
• The Light Table, which allows visitors to experiment with how optics behave in different environments.
• The Soap Bubble Ring, where individuals can stand inside life-size bubble formations.
Dawn added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming new and familiar faces to see the displays, especially as each one is completely different to what we have in-centre at the moment. We continue to update our public shows every six weeks, so it’s fantastic to consolidate this by bringing new, engaging opportunities to learn within our exhibition space.”
In addition to more than 80 interactive exhibits, visitors can attend Xplore!’s live shows as part of general admission to the centre.
It will be showcasing its Brilliantly Baffling Brains demonstration from 2 March to 7 April.
