Cycling 4 All, a Wrexham-based charity that delivers the all-ability cycling service at Alyn Waters Country Park, is to host a “Pedal Power Parade” thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The Pedal Power Parade is a trail of bikes displayed around the park. They are all decorated by local community groups, charities, schools, and businesses. It takes place during Bike Week, June 10th to 16th, at Alyn Waters Country Park.

The parade aims to bring the local community together by walking or biking to discover all the transformed bikes for their well-being. It also promotes environmental sustainability and sustainable transport. It is a perfect opportunity to get outdoors and get active. Celebrate and support creativity, and connect people with others in the community.

Cycling 4 All will work with partner charities Refurbs and Groundwork North Wales to access bikes that cannot be reused. The bikes will be used for the parade, reducing waste sent to landfills.

Getting Creative

Hanna Clarke, Project Lead for the Pedal Power Parade, said, “We are looking forward to the local community getting creative and decorating a bike that would have otherwise ended up in landfill.

“The Pedal Power Parade will provide an exciting opportunity to promote the need for reuse and sustainability in our community. It is a chance for the community to celebrate and support creativity, getting outdoors and getting active”.

Local community groups, charities, schools, and businesses are all invited to decorate a bike however they wish. Participation is free of charge. Businesses can make a charitable donation to Pedal Power if they wish.

In addition to getting community groups, charities, schools, and businesses to decorate bikes, they will be holding several community workshops where people can drop in and help decorate bikes for the parade.
