Chirk Castle To Feature Nightingale House Hospice Sunshine Meadow.
This month, the Wrexham Hospice will adorn the front lawn of picturesque Chirk Castle, with special everlasting Nightingale Peonies. The subsequent sale of the flowers will raise much-needed funds for patient services.
“Delighted To Host The Sunshine Meadow”
Nightingale House Hospice has partnered with The National Trust’s Chirk Castle to showcase their annual Sunshine Meadow. Sue Jones, Volunteer & Community Manager at Chirk Castle, explained, “We are delighted to be hosting the Nightingale House Hospice Sunshine Meadow at Chirk Castle this year. The National Trust was founded to protect special places for the benefit of the nation. One of its founders, Octavia Hill (1895), said, “We all need space, we all need beauty, we all need peace – without it, we cannot hear the whispers of better things come to us gently”.
“This year, the flowers will be on display close to the castle. They will be in a spot with a beautiful view out to the valleys and hills beyond. What better location is there to reflect on the past and contemplate the future?”
2024 marks the charity’s sixth annual Sunshine Meadow and has previously used Sunflowers, Welsh Poppies, Forget-Me-Nots, and Snowdrops. In 2023, Sunshine Meadow raised £22,500 to support people from the community living with life-limiting conditions. People can visit the display during Chirk Castle’s normal opening hours, between the 1st and 30th of June.
“Hope, Resilience And Community Spirit”
Elise Jackson, Events and Campaigns Manager at Nightingale House Hospice, commented, “The Sunshine Meadow symbolises hope, resilience and community spirit. With the introduction of Peonies this year, we hope to continue to raise vital funds for our hospice’s mission of providing specialist care and support for patients and their families during challenging times.”
Supporters can purchase The Nightingale Peonies from nightingalehouse.co.uk/sunshine go on sale for £30 each. After the exhibition, you can collect the Nightingale flowers from the Wrexham hospice on July 11th or 14th.
