THE mother of a young singer has spoken with pride at how her daughter is managing to overcome her ADHD and anxiety to perform in public.

Teenager Morgan Parry, from Llay, was diagnosed with anxiety, ADHD and PTSD a few years ago, but has since discovered a love and talent for singing that has enabled her to overcome those issues.

The 18 year-old’s most recent performance on stage in Ty Pawb drew crowds and a great response, and Morgan’s mother Kim Hayes says it is helping build up her confidence.

She said: “She’s been singing in public for a year or so now, having been encouraged by the MP Ian Lucas and his wife Norah who met her at the Vic Studio in Wrexham.

“Morgan had sung in the house before but never had the confidence to do it in public.

“She was diagnosed with anxiety and ADHD when she was about 14 or 15 and suffered with bullying in school.

“Mr Lucas has invited her along to about four or five singing events now and she is also going to feature on Calon FM.

“We want to her to keep it going, keep building up the number of events she sings at and her confidence.”

Ms Hayes added: “She likes singing songs by Adele and Pink, but we are trying to encourage her to do more.

“I created a Facebook page for her and posted a video of her performing at Ty Pawb which got a lot of comments and likes, and that has helped boost her confidence.

“I’m really proud of how far she has come.

“A few years ago she would never have done this, she’s got the guts to get up on stage and do it.”
