International showcase festival FOCUS Wales has announced an open call for Welsh music creators to participate in the inaugural out of FOCUS. It is a brand new digital showcase and conference event set for September 2020.
In the first of a series of online events (with more coming soon), the virtual showcase event will take place in September. It will feature panel talks and keynote sessions with industry professionals and special guests. The series will also offer artists from Wales the opportunity to showcase their music and network with representatives of the global music industry. It will also provide access to support for participants affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
A Year-Round Resource Centre
Referring to the overall purpose of this new digital event and the future events that will follow. A spokesperson for FOCUS Wales described the project:
“Our new digital conference events aim to become the hub for advice and assistance with the holistic development of the music industry in Wales. Moreover, in the short term, it will be a virtual hub with online industry advice sessions and resources offered via a virtual conference. In the long term, we’ll develop the hub into a year-round resource centre for the sector in Wales. It will also be available online and in-person via panel sessions, one-to-one intensive advice sessions and online resources. There will also be ‘in-person’ industry sessions at various locations in Wales throughout the year.”
FOCUS Wales 2021!
While the broader digital conference will be free to access for all. A number of spaces on the inaugural artist development programme are available and also Welsh artists can apply to participate via the FOCUS Wales website.
FOCUS Wales recently announced the postponement of the 2020 edition of the festival, now taking place in autumn 2021. The 10th edition of FOCUS Wales will see over 250+ acts from Wales and beyond. Moreover, they will be performing in various locations in Wrexham from 7th-9th October 2021.
