Two family-run businesses in Wrexham have set up an exciting new project called The F Jones Initiative, named after the late Fred Jones, who ran Jones’ Fish and Chip Shop on St George’s Crescent.
The companies involved are F Jones Food Service and Wrexham Lager Beer Company, owned by Fred’s grandchildren, Mark, Vaughan, Janet and Jon.
To launch the scheme, they are running a recognition award competition with fabulous prizes for 24 winners.
The competition aims to shine a positive light on Wrexham by collaborating with local independent businesses and recognising the competition winners on social media and in the local press each month. The competition is open to anyone aged 13 years or over who has lived in Wrexham County Borough for more than two years.
£100 Cash Prize
amy.does.some.hair is promoting the idea on Tik Tok and Coleg Cambria are including the competition poster in their freshers’ information and weekly newsletters, encouraging students to apply. The organisers have also sent the competition poster to local schools, Glyndŵr University, and community and voluntary organisations.
All 24 winners will receive a £100 cash prize plus £75 in vouchers donated by Lot 11, The Bank Wine Bar and Bistro, and The Fat Boar (£25 from each business). There are two categories in the competition and you can apply to either type. There will be a winner from each category per month until October next year.
At the end of the competition, the overall winner will be chosen at an awards evening celebration. The prize is £1,000 plus a two-night dinner, bed and breakfast package donated by Rossett Hall Hotel.
