The Holly Bush Inn Bus Stop

by Love Wrexham Magazine

We are not sure how many people have noticed how well-kept the Holly Bush Inn Bus Stop in Cefn Mawr is. We even turfed around the trees to compliment the Holly Bush Inn Beer Garden.

This work was carried out in conjunction with the resetting of the bus stop sign. Including cleaning and polishing it and weeding the whole area.

We have been doing this for a couple of years now and it is looking very good we think.

The group would like to run a small competition across Wrexham County for the Best Kept Bus Stop. They are inviting Wrexham County Council and local community councils to join in and encourage more use of public transport.

Chirk Railway Station has won many awards. It would be good to replicate this for bus stops in Wrexham County.

We see the unofficial Holly Bush Inn bus stop as one of the most important stops in our community, as it is at the top of the hill. This then represents the best stop for anyone living in Upper Cefn or anyone wanting to access our medical services and traditional shopping centre, Crane Street and Well Street.

Bus Stop Sign on Both Sides

We think it unreasonable for people who need to see the doctor or call into the pharmacy for a prescription to be expected to walk up the hill. Therefore, we would like to see a bus stop sign on both sides of the road to facilitate this.

Our group is aware of the controversy that has been going on this year with the buses using the Holly Bush Inn bus stop. They are grateful to all the bus drivers who have been good enough to stop for our people.

To this end, we are considering introducing a small incentive scheme to encourage and reward more drivers to stop. Again, we are hoping that all will approve and support.

Happy Christmas and New Year, everyone.
