When people think of Hotel Wrexham, many will remember it by its former name, Holt Lodge. For decades it has been one of the area’s best-known venues, welcoming visitors from across North Wales, Cheshire and beyond.
A Destination for Families and Visitors
Today, following significant investment from its new owners, Hotel Wrexham and The Savvy Fox Pub have become far more than somewhere to stay. Together they have created a destination. Families, friends and businesses can eat, celebrate and connect there. At the heart of the venue is The Savvy Fox, a stylish gastro pub. It combines traditional country charm with contemporary surroundings.
Families are central to everything The Savvy Fox offers. Guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner in a relaxed setting throughout the week. Meanwhile, weekends see the outdoor space come alive with inflatables and activities for younger visitors. The Savvy Fox has also become popular during the school holidays. Notably, its Kids Eat Free offer, running throughout the summer, has helped.

A Community Hub in the Making
Since taking over Hotel Wrexham and The Savvy Fox, the new owners have placed a strong focus on supporting the local community. Their investment has extended beyond the buildings themselves. Also, they continue to support local sports clubs and initiatives such as Connect Wrexham. Consequently, the venue has strengthened its reputation as a genuine community hub, not just somewhere to stay overnight.
Weddings, in particular, have become an increasingly important part of the venue’s story. Couples can enjoy everything from intimate ceremonies to larger celebrations. An experienced team understands every wedding is unique. Alongside private celebrations, the venue has also developed a busy calendar of public events. These include quiz nights and seasonal celebrations.
The Savvy Fox Pop Festival returns on Saturday 29th August from 2pm until 8pm. This follows the sell-out success of last year’s Savvy Fox Festival. The event will feature tribute performances celebrating Robbie Williams and Sabrina Carpenter. There will also be live musicians, DJs, street food and entertainment throughout the day. A dedicated kids’ zone with inflatables and sweet treats completes the line-up.

The Old Registry
Beyond the venue itself, the owners continue to invest in Wrexham’s future. They have recently transformed the city’s former Old Library into Queen’s Square Social. They are also putting the finishing touches to The Old Registry, Wrexham’s first aparthotel. Therefore, whether you’re attending a wedding or simply calling in for Friday Happy Hour, there’s a genuine feeling that everyone is welcome.
The venue is equally welcoming for four-legged visitors, with designated dog-friendly areas and plenty of outdoor space. This makes it a popular stop before or after exploring the countryside surrounding Wrexham and Holt. Consequently, families with pets have another reason to choose the venue over somewhere less accommodating.
Public events continue to grow year after year, giving local people fresh reasons to return throughout the calendar. Meanwhile, the community focus extends to everyday moments as much as larger celebrations, from families meeting for Sunday lunch to local businesses networking over coffee. Therefore, staff say the goal has always been the same: creating a space where people genuinely feel they belong, not just somewhere they pass through.
